Shopify expects each sellable combination to have a row with option values, price, SKU, inventory, and optional image mapping.
Etsy variations may be looser
Etsy variation text can be descriptive or maker-specific. Before import, tighten names into shopper-friendly options like Size, Color, Finish, or Material.
Keep option count under control
Shopify supports three option axes. Products with more Etsy customization choices may need line-item properties or separate products.
Validate variant images
If an Etsy variation maps to a specific photo, preserve that relationship with Shopify Variant Image where the source supports it.
